The Fleming School of the Arts - Private Music Lessons (Holiday Special - save $30 on Lessons!)

Dear Parent, Guardian, and Student,

Congratulations on being selected to join The Fleming School of the Arts private music lessons program!

We look forward to working with you and sharing the joy of music with you or your child!

Below are details about our program and policies.

By clicking "complete my purchase" on this page, you will officially be registered for lessons and will agree to our policies when you click the box marked "I have read and agree to the terms and conditions on this page."

Thank you for reading over the entire page and as always just let us know if you have any questions or need anything at all!

Tuition & Registration at The Fleming School of the Arts:

By registering on this page, you will receive:

One live weekly 30 minute music time slot (instrument of your choice or voice) with Carla Fleming or James Fehl at The Fleming School of the Arts.  Your membership at The Fleming School of the Arts includes text / email / video support as well as your invitation to exciting optional performance opportunities and master classes.

Lesson tuition via our Holiday Special is $99.00 for your 1-month Gift Certificate of private lessons with Carla or James.  If you choose to continue you will be auto-billed $120 each month using the credit card you submit, on the same day of each month.  Save $10 per month!  Lessons are normally $130, but those who enroll during our Holiday Gift Certificate special receive one full month at $99, then $10 off the regular $130 per month for as long as you continue lessons, making your lessons only $120 / month!  You may cancel lessons at any time and will not be charged further. There is no registration fee.

All pricing and policies also apply to our Mercyhurst University Sullivan Conservatory lesson location, where a separate registration form and a one-time $30 fee also apply - you'll receive the form and remit the registration fee at your first lesson at Mercyhurst.)

By registering, you are reserving a time slot for regular lessons with your instructor and a confirmation email will be sent to you from Carlaquarius.com immediately upon completing your registration.

Lesson Materials:

Please bring your current books or sheet music to your lesson and we’ll build your repertoire from there.  Feel free to use your own favorite binder and we'll provide supplemental pieces and worksheets based on your level.  We will suggest books or pieces that you may easily find at one of our local music stores or online.

Practice:

We recommend a minimum of 30 minutes of deliberate, focused, practice, 5 days per week for teens to adults.  And a minimum of 10-20 minutes of deliberate, focused practice, 5 days per week for children. Always listen to your body and intuition when setting your practice time minimums and maximums and we will train you further on this during your live lessons as well.

Never feel like you can’t attend your next lesson if you didn’t practice the week before.  We are here to make your lessons fun and to re-inspire you consistently, and to teach you how to re-inspire yourself.  You are always welcome here no matter how little or how much you’ve practiced and we will always pick up where you left off and move you forward.  Much of musical study is about mindset and we’ll help you navigate the ups and downs of motivation and passion for your music as you go!

 Attendance & No Makeup Policy:

Due to our busy schedules, we don’t have room to offer makeup lessons, therefore, we deliberately pair your private music lessons with bonus master classes and optional performance opportunities throughout the year.  This way we know that you will always receive immense value from the program, even when either of us needs to cancel an occasional lesson.  We do not view the lesson as a cost per lesson, rather a tuition for the month which will include lessons, email, text, phone support, optional master classes, and optional performances.  We recommend that the student attend as many optional activities as possible and take advantage of technology / text / video support for additional lesson support so that questions are always answered in between lessons and progress is always made.

There are no refunds for missed lessons and no makeup lessons available.  From time to time, both the student and the instructor will inevitably need to cancel for a holiday, inclement weather, illness, or travel as an example.  It’s important to keep our mind on the big picture:

If you attend every lesson you are able to attend, and attend every bonus master class and performance opportunity you're able to attend (performances are optional but we recommend attending the experience whether performing or just listening and learning from your peers) we believe 100% that you will live into your highest potential as both a creative artist and musician. This is why I am not concerned with a missed lesson here and there, and neither should you be if you feel this program is a good fit for you.  We will look at the year as a whole and know that by this time next year, you will have progressed phenomenally if you invest in yourself and put in the time, effort, and energy together with me - I will train you to do all of these things from a professional musician’s lens and a High Performance lens, and I believe you will quickly gain the results you are after. This is a musical membership and coaching relationship that will serve you greatly over time. It is deliberately priced at half its actual value, in order to certain you always receive more than you are investing, and to accommodate for any lessons you may need to miss.

You will be guided to make a deliberate and purposeful practice regimen which will continue to be more and more disciplined as you progress and you will always know how to move forward in your studies independently on the rare occasion that you may have to miss your lesson, until our next lesson where we can give you live feedback on what you’ve practiced and always new instruction and inspiration moving forward.

Over our 30+ years of teaching, we’ve learned that a no makeup policy is what works best for most professional studios, for our own students’ long term results, and for all of our busy schedules.

Because we are booked solid we would not be able to serve you or your child or anyone best if we were juggling schedules for makeup lessons every week. If we ever do need to cancel your lesson (so rare!), please use that time to catch up on your practice and continue incorporating the habits you’ve learned into your musical journey.  It is also 100% okay to have a week of rest from time to time when you need it. Sometimes your brain and body will benefit from the brief rest and will come back stronger the following week.

Lastly, please think of your musical journey as a lifestyle - the inevitable result after you invest your time and effort into this program, is advanced musical proficiency and your living the High Performance life experience through your passion for music.  So be sure not to get hung up on policy but to get fired up on your journey!  When you attend my home studio, you become my family and I have only your best interest and the good of all at heart. Most students who enroll here continue lessons long term and are extremely satisfied with their results.  I am ecstatic to serve you and to watch you grow into the world-class musician and high performer you already are and will continue to be!

I always appreciate advanced notice and a 24 hour heads up if you know you will be missing your time slot.  As seasons change I will always do my best to help you switch your time slot if a new day for your regular time slot is needed.

Our 100% Satisfaction Guarantee:

If you are ever dissatisfied with any aspect of the schedule or our policies, you may simply cancel your monthly subscription to our lessons program and you will not be charged further.

Monthly Auto-billing:

Remember, you are only billed by the month, so if you ever feel the program is not a right fit for you, you may cancel at any time and will not be billed further.  Due to our wait list being full, I must fill your time slot immediately and cannot guarantee you a future space if you ever decide to discontinue lessons. That said, I only want you to continue if you feel you are receiving massive value and making massive progress and loving every minute of the program.  Then we know this is a perfect fit for you and your goals!

Students, Parents, & Guardians:  You are responsible for yourself and your child’s well being at all times before, during, and after lessons / events.  Be sure to escort your child to and from all lessons / events for safety.

Recitals & Events:

Included in your tuition you’ll receive invites to several recitals and performance events throughout the year.  These are optional and highly encouraged. Many are complimentary and some require an additional fee to attend. For each recital or event, we will fully prepare you to perform and we will set you up from every angle to have an exciting, successful, and FUN performance experience!  You are always welcome to attend first and then perform at a later time, and we believe you will continue to see your performance skills grow!

Always here for you!

Just message me or give a call if you have any questions for me, any time!  :)

What People Are Saying:

Carla is always in motion, and always a teacher - and student - at heart.

The Erie Reader, 40 Under 40 Feature

It’s outstanding! Like ridiculous! We’re working on scales and working on pick technique and arpeggios. He’s just really good and he’s got it all up here. I’m so happy with the hourlong lesson and there’s nothing like having your instructor right there with you. You learn faster. This is the thing that I really enjoy in life right now. And James is always positive. He’s telling you what you’re doing well at and then he’s always coaching you to work harder where you can improve.

Pete, Adult Student

CarlaQuarius added such an empowering and inspiring presence to my event. Our guests were immediately captivated by her ability to connect with others through her music. If you want to add a positive, uplifting energy to your event - you NEED to work with Carla.

Kiara Carniewski, Event Host

Carla Fleming is a pillar of the community. She's so aligned with using music to unite people - she really gets what that can do. We're so lucky to have her here in Erie!

Maria Gangemi, Sound Engineer

James is a true talent and an absolute gentleman. His traits are complimented by Carla's graciousness and kindness. I look forward to a great run with him.

Bob Mitchell, Savior from Anger (band)

Thank you Carla, for being a part of my daughter's life and for being such a wonderful coach, mentor, and teacher to her. She has come out of her shell, she is no longer trapped inside herself by fear. She has told me how good it feels to move outside her comfort zones and to be proud of herself. I just want to thank you again.
