What is Shimmy Mob?
The world’s largest belly dance flash mob event, supporting domestic abuse shelters globally. Founded by Sabeya Anastasi in British Columbia, CA, Shimmy Mob breaks its own record of international cities participating every single year!

This year’s exciting event (it’s 8th anniversary!) takes place on Saturday, May 11th, in Erie, PA and worldwide!

Our flash mob performance happens at a location TBA!
Featuring performances by all your favorite Erie dancers, artists, performers, and supporters. This event kicks off with Erie's official Shimmy Mob performance, which will also be our grand finale group dance!

Did you know?! Erie’s Shimmy Mob team holds the WORLD RECORD as the largest Shimmy Mob team in HISTORY!! We're proud of Team Erie and we would love welcome YOU to the team this year!
We dance to raise awareness and funds for Erie's accredited domestic abuse shelter, SafeNet, Inc - special thanks to Robyn Clark Young for representing SafeNet and collaborating with Team Erie for 7 years running! We love you, Robyn!
This event and both the funds and awareness raised - it changes and literally SAVES lives both here in Erie and around the world.

Our optional live classes are Saturdays, 11:30am - 12:30pm at Spotlight Studio by Stacey Kabasinski, Inc. We meet every Saturday leading up to the live (optional) performance from March through May!

Each class rehearsal, Lake Erie Belly Dance founder Carla Fleming teaches a full belly dance class with warm up, cool down, and prime focus on the Shimmy Mob choreography.
Come just for the FUN if you like - meet your Erie team members and experience the joy, art, and empowerment of belly dance in this no-pressure, supportive environment. Come to any or all of the free classes, as you like. **If performing in the finale, you must attend the final dress-rehearsal on the day of the show.
- No dancing required to support this cause and get your t-shirt! Non-dancer volunteers and supporters are welcome and you still get the official Shimmy Mob t-shirt!
- Once registered, you’ll receive an email from Shimmy Mob International as well as an email from your Erie Team Leader Carla Fleming with all the details.
- Want to perform in our gala Erie Shimmy Fest show? All show performers must be registered Shimmy Mobbers to support our cause to the fullest.
